MBXCast
Your music across the void.
MBXCast puts Google Cast control inside MusicBee — pick a speaker, send your music to it, and keep driving everything from the player you already use.
What is MBXCast?
MBXCast is a MusicBee plugin (mb_MBXCast.dll) that adds a casting panel
to MusicBee itself. It rides on MBXHub's Cast engine: the MBXHub Shell holds the one
connection to the speaker, and MBXCast is the native, in-MusicBee way to use it.
The web clients — the HUD, the play page, Cast Control — keep working
beside it; they all drive the same cast.
What you get
- The MBXCast panel — one compact row with Cast Control, speaker/status text and borderless settings, docked wherever you want it in MusicBee.
- Native volume and mute — MusicBee's own controls follow the selected MusicBee-owned speaker. They inherit its volume first; the app's saved local level is never sent on connection. Cast Control keeps its receiver controls.
- Automatic output handoff — on a MusicBee-owned cast, MusicBee's output switches to the speaker and switches back when the cast ends. Picking an output yourself always wins.
- Connected idle — keep the selected speaker through an empty queue. Adding music alone does not autoplay; the next Play loads the current MusicBee occurrence. If the receiver app expired, the engine checks the speaker again before starting.
- MusicBee follows the speaker — as the speaker moves through the queue, MusicBee's current row moves with it.
- Play counts stay right — a track played on the speaker is counted once, in MusicBee.
- Retry-safe commands — cast commands carry receipts, so a resend never queues or plays a track twice.
Starting from MusicBee keeps MusicBee in control even when Let others add tracks is On. The Cast engine reference describes the current behavior.
How it ships
MBXCast is bundled with MBXHub — there is no separate download. Copy
mb_MBXCast.dll, mb_MBXHub.dll, and MBXHub.exe
from the bundle into the MusicBee Plugins folder, enable both plugins under
Edit > Preferences > Plugins, and open the panel named MBXCast
from the MusicBee left navigator or place it with Arrange Panels.
